Library Awarded Project Next Generation Grant

The Brimfield Public Library District is thrilled to announce the receipt of its tenth Project Next Generation Grant, totaling $14,400. With this grant, the library has acquired various technologies and offered hands-on learning experiences led by mentors to local middle and high school students. Students aged 10-18 are welcome to participate in PNG workshops, where they can explore 3D design, robotics building and coding, virtual reality tools, photography, filmmaking, and more. This year’s focus is on enhancing digital illustration and presentation skills. Through Apple Procreate software, students will learn graphic design and digital illustration skills with professional artists. Additionally, the library will acquire a large poster printer to create designs, working in partnership with the junior high to enhance students’ presentation skills. Project Next Generation is an initiative created by former Secretary of State Jesse White and continued by Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias to bridge the digital divide by providing middle school and high school students with access to technology and hands-on, mentor-led learning opportunities. Funding for this initiative is awarded by the Illinois State Library, a Department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).
